SPECIALTY LAY

THERE ARE AS MANY PATTERNS IN WHICH TO
LAY TILE AS THERE ARE TYPES OF TILE.

HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF THE MORE
POPULAR TILE LAYOUTS TRENDING TODAY:

HERRINGBONE PATTERN:
Named for its resemblance to the skeleton
of the Herring fish, this timeless option,
LIKE THE BRICK LAY PATTERN,
uses rectangular SHAPED tiles.

The tiles are lined up at a 45 degree
angle so that they are all parallel.

This is repeated in reverse on the other
side of the tiles, like a mirror image.

This creates an imaginary line with tiles
coming out on either side like a “V.”

The herringbone tile pattern has been
heavily used in Europe for hundreds of years
because of its elegant yet intricate look.

THE HERRINGBONE TILE PATTERN IS BEST
USED IN SMALL, NARROW SPACES TO CREATE
THE ILLUSION OF SPACE BECAUSE THE EYE IS DRAWN
TO THE "V" FORMATION WITHIN THE PATTERN
TRICKING THE MIND INTO BELIEVING
THE SPACE IS LARGER.

THE VERSAILLES PATTERN:
FAMOUSLY NAMED FOR THE FRENCH PALACE, also referred to as the French or the modular pattern, The Versailles PATTERN uses a combination of 4 different tile sizes:

8″x8”
8″x16”
16″x16”
16″x24”

Elegant and graceful, this pattern can be
used indoors or outDOORS to create
a feel of EARTHY randomnesS.

It is pleasing to the eye because while
it appears random,  in reality the tiles fit
together in a large repeating puzzle pattern.

THE PINWHEEL TILE PATTERN:
This tile pattern is sometimes also called the hopscotch PATTERN.

WITH Four small squares placed around each of the four corners of a single large square, THE tile creates a shape similar to that of a spinning pinwheel.

column pattern:

the column pattern consists of two larger
format sized tiles set in a repeating column pattern
or alternate repeating column pattern.
this layout is bold and quite useful when you are
covering a large area because it draws the
eye to naturally follow the direction
in which the tile is laid out.
